Kiru Psychology Services is a private billing practice.

Payment is required on the day of your appointment. Clients are responsible for payment on the day of their appointment and any gap payment when sessions are partially funded.

We do not offer bulk billing services.

Therapy Session Fees:

  • $200 per 50-minute session (significantly less than the APS recommended fee of $311).

  • Payment is processed via credit or debit card using an online platform.

Medicare Rebates:

If referred by your GP under a mental health care plan, you are eligible for a partial rebate under Medicare’s Better Access Scheme. Provide your GP referral prior to your first session. Rebates are processed at the end of the session and can take approximately 2-3 days to arrive in your account.

Private Health Insurance:

Rebates and the number of sessions eligible to claim will vary depending on your level of cover. Contact your provider to confirm your coverage. Payment is required on the day, and you will be provided with an invoice to claim your rebate from your insurer. We do not lodge claims directly with insurers. Note, you cannot claim both a Medicare rebate and Private Health rebate for the same session.

Self-Referrals:

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist. If you would prefer not to visit your GP for a referral or are not eligible under Medicare, you can simply make an appointment directly with the practice. Self-referred clients are required to pay the cost of sessions at their own expense.

Chronic Disease Management Scheme:

This scheme allows people with a chronic or complex illness to claim a Medicare rebate for a total of five sessions. You will need to speak to your GP about your eligibility and your GP must prepare a management plan for you to access psychological services under this scheme.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP):

An EAP is a work-based initiative designed to enhance the well-being of employees and often includes services for immediate family members. Employers can elect to fund up to a specified monetary limit or nominate a certain number of appointments they wish to provide to support their employee. If your workplace offers an Employee Assistance Program, your employer can make a referral to us and cover the cost of services on your behalf. Any communication with your employer, including invoicing, will be managed to ensure your confidentiality is maintained.

Assessment Session Fees:

Fees for assessments and report writing vary depending on client needs and the purpose of the assessment. They typically include an initial interview, applicable tests, review and analysis of assessment data, scoring and report writing and a feedback session. Following the initial intake interview, a quote will be provided to you. This initial session lasts up to an hour and is charged at the hourly rate.

Management Coaching Session Fees:

Fees for coaching can vary depending on client needs and the number of sessions that would be most suitable. Please contact the practice for more information.

Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy:

As we have a lengthy waiting list, our appointments are precious. When an appointment is booked, the psychologist reserves this time specifically for you. As such, we require a minimum of 24hrs notice for any cancellations and/or rescheduling of appointments.

Our cancellation policy is in place so that we can offer the allocated time to another person in need who is waiting for an appointment.

In accordance with APS guidelines, if less than 24 business day hours notice is provided and/or non-attendance of a scheduled appointment occurs, the FULL FEE will be charged.

The cancellation period for appointments on Mondays is Friday eg if you have an appointment on Monday at 1pm and wish to change this, you will need to let the practice know BEFORE 1pm on the previous Friday.

Please note Medicare and private health funds do not provide rebates for cancelled or unattended appointments.

You will receive reminder email and text messages 48hrs prior to your appointment. Please reply with a “Y” to confirm or “N” to cancel. Without your confirmation we cannot guarantee your appointment.

This is a courtesy service only and should not be solely relied on.

Clients are expected to pay for their consultation on the day of each appointment.

We understand that at times you may be unable to attend due to sudden illness or an emergency.

We ask that you contact us as soon as possible to explain the situation.

Non-attendance or late cancellations affect 3 individuals:

1. The client – by delaying access to support and recovery

2. Another client – who is on the waiting list to see the psychologist

3. The psychologist – who has spent time preparing for the session.
